[영어번역연습]나비의꿈

어느 들에 어여쁜 나비가 한 마리 살고 있었습니다. 나비는 날마다 아침 때부터 꽃밭에서 동산으로, 동산에서 꽃밭으로 따뜻한 봄볕을 쪼이고 날아다니면서 온종일 춤을 추어, 여러 가지 꽃들을 위로해 주며 지내었습니다.
하루는 어느 포근한 잔디밭에 앉아서 따뜻한 볕을 쪼이면서, 이런 생각을 하였습니다.
여신께서는 나를 보시고,
'즐겁게 춤을 추어 많은 꽃들을 기껍게 해 주는 것이 너의 직책이다!'
하셨습니다.
'나는 오늘 지금까지 모든 꽃들을 모두 기껍게 해 주기 위하여, 내 힘껏하여 왔다! 그러나, 어떤 일이든지 좀더 좋은 일을 했으면 좋겠다.'
고 생각하였습니다. 그 후부터는 날마다 그 '더 좋은 일'만 생각하고 있었습니다.

 

There was a beautiful butterfly living in a field. Every day, from early morning, the butterfly flew from the flower field to the garden, and from the garden to the flower field, basking in the warm spring sunlight and dancing all day long, comforting various flowers.
One day, while sitting on a cozy lawn and basking in the warm sun, I thought about this.
The goddess looked at me,
'Your job is to make many flowers happy by dancing happily!'
You did it.
'I have done everything in my power to make all the flowers happy today! However, I wish I could do something better no matter what.'
I thought so. From then on, I only thought about that ‘better thing’ every day.

 

 

 

어느 날 밤이었습니다. 나비는 그 날도 온종일 재미롭게 춤을 추었기 때문에, 저녁때가 되니까 몹시 고단하여서, 일찍이 배추밭 노오란 꽃가지에 누워서, 콜콜 가늘게 코를 골면서 잠이 들었습니다.
그리고, 이런 꿈을 꾸었습니다.
나비는 전과 같이 이리저리 펄펄 날아다니노라니까, 어느 틈에 전에 보지 못하던 모르는 곳에 이르렀습니다. 거기서 시골같이 쓸쓸스런 곳인데, 나직한 언덕 위에 조그마한 집이 한 채 있었습니다.
"에그? 어떻게 이런 곳으로 왔을까!"

 

 

 

It was one night. Because the butterfly danced happily all day that day, it was very tired in the evening, so it lay down early on the yellow flower branch in the cabbage field and fell asleep, snoring softly.
And, I had this dream.
The butterfly continued to flutter here and there as before, and suddenly it reached an unknown place that it had never seen before. There, in a lonely country-like place, there was a small house on a gentle hill.
“Egg? How did we get to a place like this!”

 

 

하고, 나비는 이상해 했습니다. 그리고, 언뜻 보니까, 그 조그마한 집 뒤뜰에는 동백나무가 서 있고, 나무에는 빨간 동백꽃이 많이 피어 있으므로, 나비는 그 꽃 위에 앉아서 날개를 쉬고 있었습니다.

따뜻하게 볕만 퍼지고 동네도 조용하고, 이 조그만 집도 사람 없는 집같이 조용하였습니다.

그러더니, 이 빈 집같이 조용하던 집에서 나직하고 조심스런 소녀의 소리가 들리었습니다.

"이애 민수야, 얼른 나아야 약을 먹고 얼른 나아야 아니하니? 네가 이렇게 앓아 누웠기만 하면, 누나가 쓸쓸하지 않으냐?

분명히 병든 동생의 머리맡에 앉아서 근심하는 소리였습니다. 그러니까, 그 병든 동생이 기운 없는 말로 대답하는 것이 들렸습니다.

 

 

And the butterfly looked strange. And, at first glance, there was a camellia tree in the backyard of the small house, and many red camellia flowers were blooming on the tree, so the butterfly was sitting on the flower and resting its wings.
The sun was warm, the neighborhood was quiet, and this small house was as quiet as a house without people.
Then, in this quiet, empty house, I heard a girl's low, cautious voice.
“My dear Minsu, shouldn’t you take the medicine and get better quickly? If you lie in bed sick like this, won’t your sister be lonely?
It was clearly the sound of worry as he sat by the bedside of his sick brother. So, I heard the sick younger brother answer in a weak tone.
